URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Aging in Place Tips

Aging in place is possible

Aging in place is possible. Here we specialize in installing lifts with the hopes of you being able to enjoy living in your home as long as possible. However, aging in place encompasses more than having the right home modification features. Today we’re going to share a few essential tips that will make aging in place comfortable and convenient.

Make Sure That Your Home is Functional

Ask yourself if you can navigate through your home comfortably. If you find that climbing up and down the stairs is now challenging, then you should indeed consider a home elevator, stairlift, or wheelchair lift depending on your circumstances. What may also be helpful is having a full bathroom on the first floor if your home doesn’t already have one.

Do You Love Your Home’s Location?

Aging in place is not only about having a comfortable and convenient home. The location of your home matters, as well. Aging becomes a beautiful thing when you live in a community that you love with access to your loved ones. It’s also nice to be able to do the activities that you love without specific facilities being too far away.

What Services Are Near Your Home?

Living away from a busy area is peaceful, especially as you become older. However, living too far away from shopping, medical care, or entertainment may not be the best idea, especially if you live alone, regardless of age. You should always have access not only to a loving community but to the things that you need daily or if an emergency happens.

Is Living in Your Home Affordable?

It takes time and research to figure out if living at home will benefit you financially. It all depends on your specific needs, especially as it relates to the state of your health. If your only trouble is getting up and down the steps comfortably, then home modification is a simple, effective, and affordable fix that has longterm benefits. However, if you need a caregiver to look after you during daily activities, that can be more expensive.

Other Tips to Check Out!

  • Arrange for food to come to you
  • Set up transportation services
  • Look into home automation (the ability to control the settings in your home with the touch of a button)
  • Keep up with regularly scheduled doctors’ appointments
  • Travel
