COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Aging in Place is Beneficial. Here are 5 Reasons Why!

Aging in place is beneficial, and we can help you do so

Aging in place is beneficial, and we can help you do so. Our products can make aging more comfortable and make remaining as independent possible easier.. You’re not alone if you’ve decided that you want to stay in the comfort of your home as you get older. 90% of people over the age of 65 want to age in place. Today we’re going to give you five reasons why aging in place is so beneficial. Keep reading!

1) You’ll Save Money

Nursing homes and assisted living can be costly. If you’re close to paying off your mortgage, then adding on another expense probably doesn’t seem ideal. Nursing home care for one person could cost more than a two-income household. It’s less costly to hire in-home aides or have family assist you. If you want even more independence, our home modification devices can make life easier for you without you needing much assistance.

2) Aging in Place is Comforting

What better feeling is there than to be able to enjoy the comfort of your own home? Your home is your haven with all your own furniture, décor and the memories you’ve shared in your home over the years. You won’t get that type of experience at a nursing home. You also will have to share your common areas with a lot of other residents, which can be difficult to get used to.

3) You’ll Stay Close to the Ones That Matter Most

If you love your neighborhood, then you don’t have to leave it. Aging comes with the benefit of staying close to the same neighbors and watching their children and grandchildren grow up along with your own. Living in the same familiar place comes with a nostalgia that nursing homes can’t provide. You’ll also stay close to your family, especially if you live with them.

4) Aging in Place Helps With Memory Loss

If you’ve ever been the “new kid,” then you know how overwhelming it can be to try and remember where your classes are. This feeling is comparable to how challenging it may be to navigate through a nursing home. Staying at home decreases the progression of memory loss because you’ll be familiar with certain smells and sights. You won’t feel lost trying to navigate through the unknown.

5) You’ll Stay Independent

If you’re a person who has always been independent and self-sufficient, then that doesn’t have to stop. Even if you have limited mobility, you can still have a high quality of life. Our devices can give you your mobility back, along with other home modification techniques. Aging in place is a beautiful thing.
