COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

5 Limited Mobility Self-Care Tips

Self-Care Limited Mobility Tips Preferred Elevator

Self-care means that you take on new hobbies and try to enjoy life fully

Maintaining self-care is essential for anyone. However, those living with limited disabilities face unique challenges. If moving around has become more of a challenge, we offer lifts that can make life a little easier and help you maintain your independence. Call us so we can thoroughly explain how our products and services can positively impact you. In the meantime, here are five self-care tips for anyone with limited mobility or anyone in general.

Exercise

Even with limited mobility, you can still build muscle. There are thousands of low-impact workouts that can help you regain strength. Chair exercises are useful, as well as lifting weights. Hydrotherapy (using water at various temperatures for health purposes) is also popular because it helps with joint pain. Talk with your doctor before exercising to find out what’s appropriate for you.

Eat Food That’s Good For You

It’s fall, so it’s tempting to indulge in pumpkin-flavored delicacies. A few delicious treats here and there won’t hurt. However, eating more than enough fruits and vegetables is one of the best ways to take care of your health. Self-care means that you take care of your body, and you’re aware of what you put into it.

Get Enough Rest and Meditate

One benefit of aging is that life slows down a bit, and you have more time to rest and reflect. Aim to go to bed every night before midnight. Your body will thank you. If you ever find yourself stressed, meditating for at least 15 minutes can help.

Never Stop Learning

Not only does the body need a good workout (if possible), but the mind does as well. For some, the idea of learning may not sound exciting. But you might be surprised at all of the fun things that you can learn. Try to complete a new puzzle or take on a new hobby!

Avoid Isolation

Staying social combats loneliness. It is 2020, the year of social distancing, however,  technology allows you to connect with your loved ones instantly. Be sure to catch up with your friends and family. You can also check off your list that you learned how to video chat.
