COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Advantages of Aging AND Aging in Place

Aging in Place Preferred Elevator

AARP reports that 90% of Americans prefer aging in place

AARP reports that 90% of Americans prefer aging in place (staying in their homes). Even in cases where individuals have physical or cognitive decline, they prefer to age in place instead of facility care. One of the ways that aging in place is possible is through home modification. Our experienced mechanics install lifts that make navigating through your home more comfortable and helps those living with limited mobility still have independence. Today, we will discuss the advantages of aging in place and aging in general.

Independence

Physical and cognitive decline related to aging makes it more challenging to perform daily tasks independently. At some point, elderly adults may find that they need help from others to carry out daily chores and errands. Residential lifts, along with help from friends and family members, helps aging adults maintain their independence, all while being in the comfort of their home. In senior living facilities, residents have less control over their routines and activities. Plus, nurses have to split their time and attention between different residents. Older individuals can stay in their homes and live as they see fit.

Familiarity

Elvis Presley once sang, “home is where the heart is.” This sentiment is timeless for a reason. A person’s home means so much to them. It’s a familiar setting that offers comfort and security. Homes have monetary value, but they also have sentimental value. A person being able to stay in their beloved home forever can improve their quality of life.

Is Aging a Bad Thing?

Not at all! When you are older, you gain a treasure trove of wisdom to share with the world. The knowledge that comes with aging makes getting older a cherished part of life. Studies show that people who are older sleep better. Another benefit is that you can live life at a slower pace if you prefer. You can stop and smell the roses, and take life one day at a time, and limited mobility does not have to prevent you from living a full and fabulous life
