COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Straight Stairlifts Vs. Curved Stairlifts

Straight Stairlifts Vs. Curved Stairlifts

There are both curved and straight stairlifts, and we want to compare these two options with you today.

Do you know someone who is experiencing movement limitations at home? If so, it becomes crystal clear that stairs can become a huge obstacle within a person’s own home. When mobility is limited enough, a person might be unable to access any areas that can only be reached by using the stairs. One solution to this issue is to install a stairlift in the house so that getting up and down the stairs is a breeze. There are both curved and straight stairlifts, and we want to compare these two options with you today.

Installation Duration

You want to start using your stairlift as soon as possible, so it’s great when you can install it quickly. Straight stairlifts win in this category because of how fast the installation can be. It will often take between one and two weeks to complete the installation because these units are not custom made.

Curved stairlifts do require custom manufacturing, however. As a result, the installation process will take longer. Typically, you’ll be waiting for around a month, possibly up to six week for the unit to be made and shipped.

Customizability

Perhaps you have a unique staircase that won’t fit just any kind of stairlift. If this is the case, you’ll likely want to invest in a curved stairlift. They have a higher upfront cost, but they are designed to fit the unique dimensions of your staircase.

How Much Space Your Stairlift Occupies?

Both curved and straight stairlifts are designed that the chair can be folded up and kept out of the way when you aren’t using the stairlift. This means you don’t have to give up much space to fit a stairlift into your home. You don’t even need to build into the walls like other home projects, making the installation process less obstructive, regardless of the type you choose.
