URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Obvious Signs That Your Elevator Is In Need Of A Repair Service

Be aware of the signs that your elevator needs repairs before it breaks down on you.

If you rely on an elevator on a daily basis to get you from floor to floor in your house, apartment or office building, you want to make sure it is running smoothly constantly.  Elevators assist people with physical disabilities frequently, so it is essential that the elevator in your building is being cared for.  However, there may be a time when your elevator will be in need of repair service, so you need to recognize the signs before it is too late.  Luckily, there are a few obvious warning signs that point to an elevator needing repair service.

Changes In Speed

When riding in an elevator, you should pay attention to the speed of the ride.  It should be a consistent, smooth speed when riding in an elevator. If you notice that the elevator speeds up or slows down before it gets to a destination, then there is an issue that needs attention.  If you are noticing frequent changes in speed, then you should contact the professionals at Preferred Elevator. It is likely that a breakdown is in the near future.

Misaligned Car Stops

When riding in an elevator, the car should stop completely level with the opening on the desired floor.  Amajor sign that an elevator is in need of repair service is if it stops slightly above or below the opening.  If this occurs, it can be dangerous for anyone entering or exiting the elevator as it creates a major tripping hazard.  It is also a sign that the cables are worn out and need to be replaced immediately.

Strange Sounds

A major sign to be aware of is loud squeaking, squealing or grinding sounds coming from an elevator during your ride.  A properly functioning elevator should travel smoothly and quietly from floor to floor. If you notice any strange sounds coming from your elevator, contact the professionals at Preferred Elevator immediately.  It is likely there is an issue with the cables and pulleys.
