COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

A Modernized Elevator: Is It Time for One?

Modernized Elevator Tips Preferred Elevator

Devices don’t last forever, yes, even a well-designed elevator.

Devices don’t last forever, yes, even a well-designed elevator. Normal wear and tear caused by regular use can impact the performance and efficiency of any machine. The average lifespan of an elevator is between 20-25 years with proper maintenance. Would you know if it was time to upgrade your residential or commercial LULA elevator? Here are three signs that a modernized elevator would be in your best interest.

If Your Elevator is Heading Towards the 30-Year Mark

Understandably, homeowners and owners of commercial establishments want to get the most usage out of their machines and devices. However, hanging on to a machine after its prime does more harm than good. Delays are an inconvenience, plus outdated elevator equipment can be a safety hazard. Unreliable doors can seem like a minor issue at first, but it could lead to costly problems in the long run. Plus, sometimes, the older an elevator is, the harder it is to obtain parts for it.

If You Keep Requiring Service

Take a look at how many service calls you’re making because your equipment is malfunctioning. Ask yourself how often your equipment breaks down each year. Is it often? If so, it could be due to the age of your unit and it could be time for a new, modernized elevator.

If Repair Costs Are Costly

Compare elevators to cars or any other large equipment. Sometimes, fixing a car is entirely worth it because you know that it will run for many years. However, sometimes the cost of car repairs puts you in a position where buying a new car would be the better option. Frequent repair calls are problematic, but what’s a bigger issue is when all of these calls are expensive and start adding up and burning a hole in your pocket. Other signs that it’s time for a replacement include the lift slowing down or not leveling when it stops at the desired floor.

The Benefits of Modernized Elevators

  • Improved acceleration and deceleration rates
  • Energy efficiency/lower energy costs
  • Less electromagnetic noise
  • Better electrical performance
