COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

A Guide on Home and LULA Elevators Service and Maintenance

Home and LULA Elevators Preferred Elevator

Home and LULA elevators have a simple purpose—to transport people safely.

Home and LULA elevators have a simple purpose—to transport people safely. With this in mind, both devices have many complex parts such as cabs, doors, gates, a drive system, and safety sensors, to name a few. All of these parts must function together to ensure a safe and smooth ride. For this reason, routine elevator maintenance is vital, and so are inspections. Here is a brief guide on home and LULA elevators inspections.

Why Elevator Maintenance Matters

Elevator maintenance matters because it ensures that all parts of an elevator are functioning as they should. Elevators are already incredibly safe, being that they have many backup safety features. However, reassurance makes a world of difference. Elevator maintenance helps to diagnose any potential mechanical problems that need resolution. Compare home and commercial LULA maintenance to going to the doctors for a checkup. Even if you are relatively healthy, that doesn’t mean you should miss out on checkups. Doctors’ appointments ensure your body is in its best shape. Routine service and maintenance ensure elevators are running optimally.

It Could Save you Money

You can avoid costly repairs when you stop any mechanical issues in its tracks. Preventative care is vital because an elevator has several interconnected parts. In other words, when one part of an elevator breaks down, it can affect other areas, leading to a domino effect of issues that you could prevent. Most importantly, keeping a home or LULA elevator service ensures its longevity.

How Often Should Maintenance/Inspections Occur?

For LULA elevators, you should have an annual inspection once a year, as it is required by the state of Maryland. For our home elevator customers, we offer residential elevator service agreements, which include a once-a-year checkup and offer maintenance as needed throughout the year. You can look forward to the best service through our licensed, bonded, and insured mechanics. Our annual inspection service agreements come with no hidden charges.

The main takeaway is that, at Preferred Elevator, we put safety first. Our products are high-quality, customizable, and super safe, complying with the ASME A17.1 safety code.
