COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Know When Your Elevator Needs Repair Service

Be aware of the signs that your elevator needs repairs before it breaks down on you.

If you rely on an elevator to take you from place to place safely, the last thing you want is for it to break down one day suddenly.  Whether you have an elevator right in your home or in your apartment building, you need to be aware of how it is running at all times.  Just like cars, elevators need to be serviced and repaired, depending on their age and how you treat them.  Luckily, there are a few obvious signs that tell you that an elevator is in need of a repair or service.

Dusty Control Panel

One of the most obvious signs that your elevator is in need of some type of repair is if the control panel is severely dusty.  The control panel is the main part of an elevator where you can check the quality and safety of the entire system.  So, if it is dusty, it probably has not been inspected in a while.  You can contact the professionals at Preferred Elevator to perform some well-needed maintenance.

Mid-Leveling

When an elevator gets to a specific destination, it should stop directly at the floor level so passengers can enter and exit safely.  If an elevator car stops a little above or below a floor, the brakes are most likely worn.  It might not be noticeable at first, but it will get progressively worse if not repaired.  The cable breaks need to be repaired as soon as possible.

Unusual Sounds and Movements

An elevator should operate smoothly and quietly from floor to floor.  If there are any squeaking noises or any jolts in movement, you need to seek immediate attention for your elevator.  There is probably an issue with cables and pulleys that a Preferred Elevator professional could fix easily.
