COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Home Stairlift Procedures That Keep it Functioning Properly

Home Stairlift Procedures That Keep it Functioning Properly

Here are some maintenance procedures you can follow to keep your home stairlift operating more efficiently.

When we think of something like our car, it would sound wild to consider going over a year without getting it serviced by a mechanic. In a similar manner, you won’t want to do that with your home stairlift. By providing annual servicing to your stairlift, it will continue to function as needed so that people who rely on it are able to go to the different floors of the house without worry.

All repairs should only be done by professional mechanics, but there are ways that you can care for your stairlift on your own as well. Here are some maintenance procedures you can follow to keep your home stairlift operating more efficiently.

Get a Feel For Your Stairlift

In order to know how to care for your home stairlift, it’s important to read up on the model you have. Your stairlift will have a manual that you can read, which will give you the rundown on what preventative care methods you should consider using. The manual should also tell you the frequency of   having a professional service it and other important details like weight capacity. And troubleshooting tips.

Keep Obstructions Away

This is a basic type of preventative maintenance, but it goes a long way towards preserving your home stairlift. Whenever your stairlift collides with anything, there is a chance that the stairlift could sustain damage in the process. This will hinder its ability to operate as needed, and the one riding the stairlift can be put into danger. Make sure to keep the stairwells clean of debris so the stairlift can travel smoothly up and down.

Keep the Rails Lubricated

Your home stairlift will need its rails at all times and lubricating them helps your stairlift run smoothly. We advise that your rails be wiped down weekly, and you should use a dry cloth to get the job done. The rails typically need to be lubricated every 6 months so make sure to mark that on your calendars.
