COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Home Modification Tips That You May Not Have Thought Of!

There are many ways to modify your home

Preferred Elevator provides home modification lifts that could make life much more comfortable to maneuver through. Our residential elevators, wheelchair lifts, stairlifts, and dumbwaiters help to make aging in place achievable. These are a few of the many ways to modify your home, but there’s many more. Today we’re going to share some home modification tips that may have never crossed your mind. Keep reading!

How You Can Make Walking Through Doors Easier

If you use a wheelchair or a walker, then it may be challenging to go through narrow doorways. Offset hinges are an ideal solution for this issue because they help to move the door from the door frame. You can apply them to any door in your home. They’re reasonably priced and saves you the trouble and money of replacing your existing doors.

How You Can Make Turning Door Knobs and Turning Water Easier

When someone has arthritis or neuropathy (nerve damage), trying to twist and lift a door handle simultaneously may be an issue. Lever-style handles require less force to use them so that opening a door becomes less taxing. This kind of home modification is applicable for sink faucets as well. Lever-style handles help you to turn on the water or open a door with just an elbow or finger.

How You Can Travel Around Your House Better When It’s Dark

If you can’t quickly get to light switches in your home, motion sensor lights are one way to prevent injuries during the middle of the night. Installation is very straightforward; all you need is an electrical outlet and  doesn’t cost much money whatsoever. This kind of home modification can benefit anyone, whether young or old.

How You Can Make Showering Easier

Adjustable, handheld shower heads can benefit everyone. They help you to get the hard to reach places such as your feet or back. Trying to overextend yourself could lead to an injury, especially in an already slippery environment. What’s also ideal about adjustable shower heads is that you can change the water pressure as well. Also, investing in a shower seat or bench can make showering easier and safer. They can be removed for those who do not require them and easily put back in for those who do.
