COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Home Elevator Safety Features You Want to Have

Home Elevator Safety Features You Want to Have

Here are some of the safety features your home elevator needs to have.

There are a lot of homes that benefit from having a new home elevator. Home elevators let people access all of the different areas of their houses, even when they have physical limitations that could otherwise make it difficult to do so. When getting a home elevator, though, you need to be careful about which one you pick. The elevator you select should have certain safety features to ensure safe usage. Here are some of the safety features your home elevator needs to have.

Gates

This is the safety feature that is most crucial to have. This is especially true for pets and young children because, without gates, they might try to enter the elevator with no adult supervision, which can be dangerous.

Handrails

Handrails help getting on and off your home elevator more comfortable. People with physical limitations can use these handrails for extra leverage, if needed. In addition, there are different ways to customize your handrails so that they make your home elevator more visually appealing, all without sacrificing any of their safety functionality.

Backup Battery

Something that can be a big concern for those with home elevators is power outages. You need to be able to use your home elevator at all times, and if your power goes out, you’ll be in trouble without a backup battery. Without access to your elevator, there’s a chance you could get stuck on the upper floor of your house with no way to get down. To avoid being potentially stuck in any area of your house, you will need a backup battery. This way, you can use your elevator even during times when you are without electricity.
