COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Fact or Fiction? Stairlift Myths

Stairlifts benefit homes in many ways

The internet is chock-full of useful and truthful information, but also many myths. Our experienced team here at Preferred Elevator has been helping customers for almost 15 years, and it’s our job to keep our potential customers well-informed. Today we’ll debunk some of the most common myths about stairlifts. Read on to learn more information.

Stairlifts Take Up Your Whole Staircase

This idea is a myth. After we install a stairlift, there will still be room for others to use the staircase on foot. The stairlifts that we install have the narrowest rail on the market and you can fold the chair’s arms, seat, and footrest to ensure that the chair itself is out of the way. Also, whether your staircase is small or large, curved, or straight, we can accommodate most homes. We understand that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to stairlift installation and we will help you plan accordingly.

Stairlifts Attach to the Wall

On the contrary, we mount these lifts on the tread of the stairs, so installation and removal are easy. As a stairlift user travels up and down the steps, there is no damage to the walls. The point of stairlift installation is that a stairlift will fit perfectly into the layout of your home and be a source of convenience.

Only Seniors Benefit From Stairlifts

Statistically, more seniors than not use this device. However, anyone can benefit from having this type of lift in their home. A stairlift is helpful for a person that has any mobility impairment, is recovering from a surgery or has sustained a significant injury and finds it challenging to travel safely up and down the steps.

Stairlifts Take Away Independence

There is nothing wrong with admitting that you need help. Everyone does. A stairlift can give you the kind of help that you need when walking up and down the steps has become difficult or even worse, dangerous. Having any home modification in your home means that it will take you less time to carry out your daily tasks and gives you the independence to carry out those tasks. It’s freeing to be able to use all levels of your home safely.

Stairlifts Are Overwhelmingly Expensive

We’ll work with you and review your unique situation. Stairlifts are very affordable, and our Manufacturer can provide options that will fit your needs if you need financing. If you’ve been on the fence, then give us a call. We can answer any of your questions, listen to your concerns, and debunk any other myths!
