COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Traits You Want in Your Elevator Mechanic

Traits You Want in Your Elevator Mechanic

Today, we’ll be helping you determine what traits you’ll want in the elevator mechanic you hire.

Elevators are complicated types of machinery, and they require a wealth of knowledge if you’re going to care for them properly. For this reason, when people’s elevators break down, many will choose to hire an elevator mechanic instead of trying to solve the problem themselves. There are many reasons to hire an elevator mechanic, but you need to be careful and make sure you choose the right one. Today, we’ll be helping you determine what traits you’ll want in the elevator mechanic you hire.

Pick an Elevator Mechanic Who’s Licensed

You should always go with a mechanic who is licensed. This tells you that they have proven themselves capable of working on your elevator. By picking a licensed mechanic to work on your elevator, you’ll know you have someone reliable in your corner who will know everything that’s needed in order to repair an existing elevator, or install a new one.

They Should Keep a Positive Attitude

Anyone who works with customers needs to have a friendly personality. Your elevator mechanic should make you feel safe, and you should feel like they value your input. Contacting them should be easy so that you can address any concerns you have at the moment they pop up. No matter which mechanic works with you, they should always put the needs of the customer first.

They Should Prioritize Safety

Safety should be a top priority when installing a new elevator, or fixing an existing one. That’s why the elevator mechanic you pick should exercise caution when preparing your elevator for use. You want to be sure that the elevator can be used safely once it’s finished because it helps to avoid injuries to people while also avoiding any damage to the elevator itself.
