COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Spring Cleaning Tips for Your Home Elevator

Spring Cleaning Tips for Your Home Elevator

To complete spring cleaning for your home elevator, here is what you should be doing.

The spring season has finally arrived, and that means getting spring cleaning done around your house. If you have a home elevator, it needs to be cleaned just like any other area of your home. Elevators can have more germs than you may expect, especially when multiple people use it each day, which is why cleaning it regularly is a good thing for you. To complete spring cleaning for your home elevator, here is what you should be doing.

Use the Right Cleaning Products

A foundational component of spring cleaning is the cleaning products you use to get the job done. When cleaning a home elevator, you want to stick with disinfectants and polishes, as well as dusting soaps. To prevent large accumulations of dirt on your elevator, regular dusting is advised.

An important distinction to make is that cleaning and disinfecting are not one and the same; they are two separate hygienic practices. Cleaning is done by using either detergent or soap, and the goal of cleaning is to get rid of germs by applying these products along with water. Disinfecting also strives to remove germs, but you’ll instead be using chemicals. Impurities cannot be removed through disinfecting, so both cleaning practices will be needed to thoroughly clean your home elevator.

Wear the Right Cleaning Attire

Home elevator cleaning is like getting cleaning done for any other part of your home, which means you need to wear the right cleaning attire to keep your skin safe against harsh chemicals. A gown with some gloves is a good option that shields your skin from making contact with these chemicals. It’s also important for you to avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, until you’re able to wash your hands and cleanse yourself of any cleaning chemicals that may be lingering on you.
