COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Questions You’ll Want to Ask About Your Home Elevator

Questions You’ll Want to Ask About Your Home Elevator

Today, we’ll be talking about questions you should ask when you’re thinking about getting a home elevator.

Elevators are useful features for anyone who uses them. While they’re most common in business settings, they can also be found in some people’s homes. If you’ve been contemplating the idea of investing in a home elevator, you’ll probably want to confirm whether or not it’s the right choice for you. It’s a large investment after all, and you plan to get many years out of it. That’s why, today, we’ll be talking about questions you should ask when you’re thinking about getting a home elevator.

How Much Weight Will The Elevator Support?

This is a question that can’t be ignored. You’ll be using your home elevator all of the time, and it will be carrying weight frequently. You need to know how much weight the elevator can handle because it can be unsafe to put too much weight onto it at one time. Excess weight can also cause an elevator to malfunction and not work as it should. This can lead to your elevator needing more frequent repairs, which can be as tedious as they are expensive to fix.

What Maintenance Does the Elevator Need?

Knowing what you’re getting into regarding repairs and maintenance is important to know upfront. When you know how to take care of your home elevator, you’ll be able to keep it in pristine condition for much longer. Your elevator company can also tell you about warning signs to monitor that would signal your elevator is in need of fixing.

How Much Time Should My Home Elevator Last?

Just like any other appliance in your home, a home elevator will eventually reach the end of its lifespan. The question is: how long will that lifespan be? It’s good to know what kind of value you can expect from your home elevator because it will help you assess whether or not the investment will be worth your while long term. An elevator company can give you an estimate regarding the expected lifespan of whatever elevator you choose.
