COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

COVID-19 Tips on How to Sanitize Your Elevator Buttons

Sanitizing Elevator Buttons Covid-19 Preferred Elevator

Keep those elevator buttons free from COVID-19 by cleaning them regularly

COVID-19 is still spreading. During a pandemic, it’s important that you keep commonly-touched surfaces clean. Whether you own a residential elevator or a commercial LULA elevator, keeping elevator buttons sanitized makes a world of difference. Here are some considerations on how to keep your elevator buttons sanitized, germ-free, and free from COVID-19.

Clean Elevator Buttons Regularly

Elevators can’t move from floor to floor without someone pressing a button. It’s common knowledge that you should keep your hands washed, of course, but you want to wipe down surfaces as much as possible. With this in mind, you should keep your elevator buttons clean as a whistle. Regular cleaning will make your home or property less susceptible to germs, bacteria, and viruses. If you own a residential elevator, you probably won’t have to clean as much as someone who owns a commercial LULA elevator. It all depends on how often people use the lift each day.

How to Clean Elevator Buttons

You want to pay attention to how you clean these surfaces. You never want the liquid to damage the buttons or its components, causing the buttons to stick or causing wire damage. With the right cleaning techniques, you can avoid this. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners and go for ones with 70% ethyl or isopropyl alcohol. Also, make sure not to leave cleaning products sitting on metal surfaces. What you can do is spritz a cleaning solution on your cloth with a cleaner and wipe down the elevator buttons. Make sure to finish up the job by wiping the surface down with a completely dry cloth.

Other Helpful COVID-19 Tips

  • Keep hand sanitizer close to your elevator to remind people (and yourself) to use it
  • If your elevator is in a commercial environment, limit how many people can use the elevator at once
  • Do not allow anyone in your commercial establishment to enter without a face mask
  • Homeowners and business owners should be cleaning other commonly-touched surfaces such as light fixtures, railings, door handles, and countertops.
