COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Why Elevator Testing Should Be Conducted By a Pro

Why Elevator Testing Should Be Conducted By a Pro

Here are reasons why you should always let a professional conduct elevator testing for your home elevator.

If you have an elevator in your home, you want it to operate smoothly anytime that you use it. In order to keep your elevator in top shape, it’s important to have it properly maintained. Part of elevator maintenance involves testing it to confirm that it’s fit for operation. We don’t advise you to try testing it yourself, however, and instead let a professional handle the testing process. Here are reasons why you should always let a professional conduct elevator testing for your home elevator.

They’ll Make Sure You Meet Regulatory Requirements

If your elevator doesn’t meet all relevant regulatory requirements, there can be serious consequences, including injury to anyone using the elevator. Professionals know how to conduct elevator testing and confirm whether or not your home elevator satisfies all requirements in your area.

Passengers Stay Safer

Even smaller issues can turn into giant problems with time, and this puts anyone who uses your home elevator in danger. By getting professional help with elevator testing, they can identify when any part of your elevator makes it unsafe for use. This keeps people out of harm’s way until your elevator is safe to use once again.

Help Your Elevator Last Longer

The lifespan of an elevator is influenced in part by how well it is maintained. Since the average homeowner likely doesn’t have much experience working on elevators, it’s better to leave elevator care to the professionals. A pro can identify problem areas in your elevator, and address those problem areas so that they don’t get out of hand later on. They also know what could go wrong in the future, and think of preventative measures you can take to extend your elevator’s lifespan.
