URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Indicators That a Dumbwaiter Repair is Needed

Indicators That a Dumbwaiter Repair is Needed

Here are signs that you’ll need a dumbwaiter repair.

Dumbwaiters are complicated pieces of machinery, not unlike elevators. This means that they have a good number of maintenance requirements, and they also run into their fair share of issues. Regular service and maintenance are important to keep your dumbwaiter running smoothly and safely, and to avoid shut downs which could lead to costly repairs. . If you do notice a problem, you’ll want to get your dumbwaiter repaired as quickly as possible so it can be restored to prime condition. Here are signs that you’ll need a dumbwaiter repair.

It’s Noisy While in Operation

When you’re using a dumbwaiter, it should make practically no noise. Therefore, if you hear something unusual, there’s likely something that demands your attention. Perhaps there are components that have to be lubricated, if the problem is minor. For bigger issues, there may be entire components that need to be replaced.

Your Dumbwaiter is Less Efficient

When in good condition, a dumbwaiter will go up and down smoothly with no interruption. If you detect that your dumbwaiter is moving slower than usual, it stalls occasionally, or it jerks as it moves, you’ll want to call for service.

The Doors Struggle to Open

The doors should open and shut symmetrically, all without making nearly any sound. If you’ve noticed that your doors take more effort to open, appear crooked, or get jammed, you’ll want to schedule a service appointment to address the issue. Test these doors regularly, and if there are any abnormalities, you’ll want your doors inspected by a professional elevator company.
