COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Elevator Problems You May Encounter, and How to Prevent Them

Today, we’ll be going over some elevator problems you can experience, and ways that you can keep them from occurring.

Do you have an elevator in your home? If so, you know how valuable it is for getting people up and down to the different floors of the house easily. If there is anyone at home who depends on your elevator, then you can’t afford to have it break down. Likewise, it’s important to detect potential elevator problems early on so that you can address them and stop bigger issues from arising. Today, we’ll be going over some elevator problems you can experience, and ways that you can keep them from occurring.

Sheaves are Worn

If the sheaves on your elevator ever get worn down, the ropes will begin to get worn down as well. This will create a vicious loop in which one problem causes the other and vice-versa. An elevator repair company can determine this issue and help with this repair process so that your elevator lasts you much longer.

Power Failure

Any home elevator is going to require a large amount of power to operate. This means that changes to the voltage of the system can impact your motor’s ability to operate. Sometimes, your elevator system can even become damaged in the process. If your elevator has a history filled with operation concerns, it will be in your best interest to have a power quality survey done.
