COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Regardless of age, many people can benefit from residential elevators

Residential elevators keep people in their homes as they Age in Place. It’s comforting and convenient to be able to stay in the house that you’ve been in for years, or decades. Aging in place feels right for Maryland homeowners. However, staying at home can come with obstacles for some people. One of these challenges may include walking up and down the steps safely. Falling is a safety issue that affects those who are 65 and up the most. It can also affect anyone with injuries or compromised mobility. Residential elevators are beneficial for many people for many reasons. Read on to learn more about how residential elevators keep people in their homes.

Residential Elevators and Health Concerns

For anyone that becomes diagnosed with any condition that causes physical impairment, residential elevators are indeed a beneficial consideration. When it becomes harder to complete daily tasks, assisted living is thought to be the only option. However, assisted living may not always be an affordable option or the best solution for you and your family. It depends on your individual budget and what your specific needs are. For homeowners that desire to be independent, a home elevator allows you to do so. If your only challenge is walking up and down the stairs without discomfort, then a residential elevator may give you the assistance that you need to live life as you once did. Depending on the severity of a person’s health condition, they may find that a lift is all they need to age in place.

Residential Elevators and Safety Features

Can you use a residential elevator alone without anyone being home? Absolutely. All home elevators have safety features that protect anyone who uses them. These features prevent the cab from dropping and prevent doors from opening until the cab reaches its final destination. Other features include backup batteries and an emergency telephone. Not only can a residential elevator make falling less of a possibility, but its safety features eliminate the skepticism of being “trapped in an elevator” Riding in an elevator is safer than most modes of transportation.

A Residential Elevator and Its Versatility

Residential elevators and stairlifts are both an excellent choice for your home. However, what makes a residential elevator a homeowner’s favorite is the fact that multiple people can utilize this device, so long as the maximum weight capacity isn’t reached. The lift is also better for people who need to transport groceries or other items that may not be safe to transport while riding a stairlift.
