COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

How To Care For Your Stairlift

Caring for your stairlift

Your stairlift has finally been installed in your home and you can now get to your bedroom on the second-floor with ease.  This creates less stress for you and your family and now you can focus on living life smoothly.  But for your stairlift to properly transport you from floor to floor for years to come, there are some steps to go through to preserve it.

Read Before Riding

Before you use your stairlift, make sure to go through the instruction manual to know how to properly use the chair.  You will also discover different cleaning products to use and how to use them to properly care for your stairlift.  It also is important to know the maximum weight your stairlift can handle.  Every chair is different, so make sure to read the instructions even if you have stairlift experience.

Keep it Clean

Just like the rest of the furniture in your home, you have to clean your stairlift to maintain its lifespan and its appearance.  Simply get a duster or a damp cloth and wipe over the seat and track weekly to prevent a buildup of dust and dirt.  Use basic dish soap to clean your stairlift because a detergent can be too abrasive to your chair.

Prevent Stiffness

Imagine using your chair and in the middle of getting to the top floor it gets stuck.  To prevent any stall in the movement of your chairlift, occasionally lubricate the track with the lubricant supplied for your unit.

Annual Inspection

The best way to maintain a stair lift chair is to have an inspection performed every year.  If any problems arise during the inspection, call a specialist right away.  To ensure your stairlift works properly, make sure to keep it fully charged.
