COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Wheelchair Lift Buying and Installation Tips

Woman Using Wheelchair Lift

There several things to consider before purchasing a wheelchair lift.

Making your house accessible to everyone is important, especially those with mobility challenges.  Whether a family member or a frequent guest is bound to a wheelchair, they need to be able to navigate through your home with ease.  Installing a wheelchair lift in your home can make life simpler for your whole family.  There are several things to consider when choosing and installing the perfect wheelchair lift for your home.

Placement is Everything

One of the first steps in installing a wheelchair lift is deciding the location.  Preferred Elevator can install a lift inside or on the perimeter of your home.  Choose the place in your home where your wheelchair bound family member has the most difficulty accessing.  Place the lift on an area that can be accessed easily, and that has a smooth and perfectly leveled mounting space.  Make sure the landing space is structurally sound and the travel wall does not have any gaps.  You don’t want to be on your lift and get caught midway going up or down!

Take Your Time In Choosing a Lift

There are few factors you have to consider when purchasing the wheelchair for your home.  You need to figure out which lift has the correct travel height for the location you want.  Measure the height from the ground floor to the upper landing floor and then choose a lift that has a maximum travel height higher than the required dimensions.  You then have to choose what type of configuration fits your space the best.  Do you want your wheelchair lift to move up and down over a barrier?  Or is it easier to build a lift going up an angle over the stairs leading to the top floor of your home?

Installation

Lucky for you, installation is made easy with the professionals at Preferred Elevator.  They will take care of installing your wheelchair lift efficiently.  Before you know it, you will be able to travel throughout your home quicker and without breaking a sweat!
