COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

A Guide to Creating an ADA-Compliant Business

ADA -compliant library

Having an ADA-compliant business makes for a more comfortable experience for those who need accessibility the most

Creating an ADA-compliant business can help your company grow in so many ways. ADA compliance shows that you care about each of your customers having a comfortable experience inside of your establishment. Our contributions to ADA-compliant businesses include commercial stairlifts and wheelchair lifts, as well as offering LULA elevators. This guide is not exhaustive, but it covers some of the basics. Here is how you can align your business with ADA compliance.

Consider Changing Your Seating Options

ADA compliance does not always mean that you have to make costly, extraneous changes to your business. There are many small, simple changes that you can make. Consider furnishing your restaurant with chairs and tables that can accommodate and adapt to the needs of several people, including those who may need wheelchair accessibility

Lower Shelves and Counters Make for a More ADA-Compliant Business

If your checkout counters are taller than 36 inches, then this could cause an issue for anyone with a disability. For wheelchair users, the counter could prove to be way too high. Also, shelves and aisles could be a roadblock. People who use crutches, walkers, or wheelchairs may need more room to get down an aisle. If they don’t have the room they require or are unable to reach what they need, this could indeed be an obstacle. Extremely tall shelving is hard for anyone to reach. Of course, this problem may seem like an easy fix. A customer could easily ask for help. However, giving customers the autonomy to grab what they need in the least amount of time and without assistance makes for a better shopping experience.

Accessible Entrances and Walkways Aid in ADA Compliance

For most businesses, this is not an issue since 1992, when ADA took place. It’s common to see slanted sidewalks and accessible entrances. However, if your business has been around since before 1992, then you may need to make sure that your company is in compliance. Some suggestions include automatic doors, wheelchair ramps, and plenty of handicap parking.

Count on Us for Commercial Elevators, Wheelchair Lifts, and Stairlifts

Go the extra mile so that your visitors don’t have to and call us. If your church has multiple levels, then we can install LULA elevators to make the experience easier for your members. If you own a business with more than one story, then we can install wheelchair lifts or stairlifts so that your customers can move around with more ease.
