COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Repairs

We hold a tremendous amount of pride in the products we provide for our customers, from top-rated manufacturers in the industry. Our suppliers provide the most options for features and customization that can be found on the market, all built with utmost attention to detail and safety guidelines. Given our annual inspection and preventative maintenance program, we expect that repair calls will be few and far between. However, should something go wrong, we’ll respond to your call with care and immediacy to restore your equipment to working order and your home to the level of accessibility to which you’re accustomed. Here are a few signifiers that suggest it’s time for maintenance and/or repair:

  • You notice a change in the speed of your elevator
  • Your elevator is mid-leveling, opening a little bit above or below floors
  • Your elevator doors are not opening or shutting properly

By having your residential elevators, stairlifts, wheelchair lifts, material lifts, or dumbwaiters inspected regularly, the chances of your mobility tools getting stuck or developing other problems are significantly diminished. When it comes to elevators, some people are concerned about free falling. This occurrence is extremely rare and nowadays almost impossible, due to safety devices installed with modern elevators. Modern elevators have a brake system installed to keep it from free falling if something goes awry. Again, a safety inspection performed once a year can prevent any problems with the elevator brake system.

No one like the thought of getting stuck in an elevator, especially in a home elevator when there may not be other people nearby to provide assistance. Knowing that Preferred Elevator is local provides an additional layer of comfort and security, because we’re within driving distance if an issue arises. From Potomac to Havre de Grace, we’re here for you. Are you experiencing problems or difficulties with one of our products? Contact us immediately so that we can set it right and get you moving with full freedom and accessibility.
