COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Home Safety Tips For Seniors

home stairlift

Learn how to be safe in your home on a daily basis.

As you age, it might get more and more difficult to travel around your home.  Seniors are more at risk of falling than any other age group, so it is important to create a safe home environment.  The last thing you want to do is injure yourself in your own home. Luckily, there are few safety tips should follow when traveling navigating through your home.

Install Handrails and Grab Bars

One of the most effective ways to enhance safety around your home is to install handrails on staircases and grab bars in the bathroom.  If you can walk up and down the stairs, you should have as much support a possible. Handrails allow anyone to walk up and down stairs safely.  Installing grab bars in the bathroom is critical, especially when a senior is entering and exiting the shower or tub. It is also wise to install grab bars in hallways in your home if any senior has difficulty walking or standing up on their own.

Stairlift

If you have trouble traveling up or down the stairs, then a stairlift is the perfect solution.  A stairlift guarantees that any one with mobility issues will travel throughout their home safely.  A stairlift from Preferred Elevator can be installed onto any type of staircase. Immediately enhance the safety of your home for any senior by installing a stairlift today.

Remove Clutter

When it comes to creating a safe home environment for a senior, it is important to remove any clutter that could be seen as a tripping hazard.  You want to make sure all walkways and staircases in your home are free of clutter. Make sure to remove any wires from the floor so that you can prevent anyone from tripping and falling.
