URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Three Signs That Your Elevator Needs Repair

Simply being able to step onto an elevator and get to your destination right away is comforting. However, it is important to make sure that your elevator is safe and up-to-par.

Owning a residential or commercial elevator is convenient. Simply being able to step onto an elevator and get to your destination right away is comforting. However, it is important to make sure that your elevator is safe and up-to-par. It can be easily overlooked that your elevator is in need of repair. Here are the top signs that your elevator is in need of repair.

Your Residential or Commercial Elevator Begins Slowing Down

The major reason most people are interested in having a residential or commercial elevator installed is due to speediness. If you notice that your elevator stops moving as quickly, it is definitely time to call in for a repair. If you own a large company where an abundance of people are using your commercial elevator each day, it may cause wear and tear. An elevator can gradually slow down by having a lot of weight applied to it each day. If you find that this happens to your elevator, it is best to call your elevator company before it causes bigger issues and repairs.

Mid-Leveling

When an elevator doesn’t drop you off level with the floor outside of the cab (an inch or so before your floor), this is called mid-leveling. This often goes undetected but over time, this can be a big issue. This is unsafe because a person could trip or fall after not even seeing that the elevator is unlevel. With so many people using a commercial elevator at a company, the safety of many people is at stake. Anyone using a residential elevator could trip or fall without the possibility of anyone being home. This is why routine check-ups or Annual Service Agreements are recommended. If your elevator’s doors refuse to stay shut or stay open, this is a sign that you need elevator maintenance. If your elevator persists to shut down (even after a repair), it may be best to have an entire elevator reinstalled. Elevators can only provide the luxury of convenience so long as they are stable and secure.
