COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

How to Ensure You Have an ADA-Friendly Business

ADA-Friendly Businesses and Their Significance Preferred Elevator

Is your business ADA-friendly and compliant?

Is your business ADA-friendly and compliant? Today we’re going to detail the importance of ADA-compliant companies and how to enhance your business if it’s not as ADA-compliant as it should be. Here at Preferred Elevator, we know a lot about ensuring that homeowners can safely and comfortably navigate in and out of their homes. When they venture into commercial establishments, they should be able to do the same. Here are some ADA-friendly tips.

Reduce Architectural Barriers in Your Business

By “reducing architectural barriers,” we mean that you want to ensure that wheelchair users have enough room to move around easily in your establishment. If your doorways or entryways are not wide enough, then you should invest in removing architectural barriers and widening those areas to allow for enough room. You should also ensure that your building has ramps if there are raised entrances and enough accessible parking spaces.

What if I Can’t Reduce or Remove Architectural Barriers to Make My Business More ADA-Friendly?

More often than not, trying to reconstruct a business is costly. If this is the case, you can offer alternatives such as curbside or delivery services to serve the people that may not be able to access your building with ease. Delivery services are a profitable option, especially since we’re in the middle of a pandemic. Another consideration is a commercial LULA elevator. In the past, we’ve installed LULA elevators in churches specifically. When you take the extra steps to serve your customers and accommodate their needs, it makes a world of difference.

Vet Your Employees

“Think about your target audience” is a suggestion you often hear in the world of business and marketing, but it’s useful in many circumstances. If most of your customers are a part of the elderly community, it makes sense to have employees who work well with an older demographic. If you have disabled customers that frequent your establishment, it also makes sense to have employees around that can best accommodate them. Your employees should be patient, understanding, and sensitive to customers’ needs.

The Importance of Owning an ADA-Friendly Business

When you own an ADA-compliant company, it shows that you care about your customers and that you want them to feel comfortable in your establishment. When you make accommodations for a wide range of people, it increases your marketability and your revenue. We should also mention that disabilities don’t only affect the elderly community. They can impact anyone at any stage or age of their lives. An ADA-friendly business shows that you recognize that every customer is unique and deserves excellent service, regardless of their circumstances.
