We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

Learn how to choose the perfect elevator for your home.

You may have come to a point in your life where you are having difficulty traveling around your home.  If you or a family member has a mobility issue that prevents you from navigating throughout your home, then an elevator is the perfect solution.  Preferred Elevator offers a wide range of elevators for any type of home.  You should follow these simple tips if you are in the market for a residential elevator.

All About Size

One of the most important factors when it comes to choosing an elevator is the size of the elevator cab and hoistway.  National elevator code limits cab size to 15 square feet, with the average size being three feet wide by four or five feet deep.  The size of your hoistway and elevator will depend on the location it is installed in your home.  A typical hoistway is about 52 inches deep by 57 to 69 inches wide.  Your home should have a pit that is either in the foundation of your home or the basement.

Location Is Key

An important aspect of choosing a residential elevator is deciding where you want to build the hoistway. Preferred Elevator can provide you with sample drawings and a planning guide so you and your contractor can decide the best location for the hoistway and elevator to be installed.

Test It Out

It is important that your ride in a home elevator and know how to operate one before you purchase one.  If someone you know has a home elevator, then it is best to ask them if you may have a test ride.  It is also good to go to an elevator showroom and try out some models.  You also want to look in the hoistway and control room so that you know how everything works.
