COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

How To Care For Your Residential Elevator

Learn how to care for your home elevator.

A residential elevator is one of the best devices to help people travel around your home, especially those with a mobility issue.  Having an elevator in your home is a luxury, that comes with responsibility.  It is essential that you care for your residential elevator properly throughout the year to prevent major issues and potential repairs.  Luckily, there are few simple maintenance tips you can follow so that your residential elevator lasts for many years to come.

Check and Inspect

One of the most important aspects of elevator maintenance is routine inspection.  It is critical that you check your elevator every time you use it for any issues or irregularities.  You need to listen for any strange noises, or make note if it jolts or does not align with the floor outside the cab once it stops on the desired floor..  Preferred Elevator offers an Annual Service Agreement, which includes a 60-Point Inspection to ensure your equipment is working correctly and can recommend any replacements before it leads to a costly repair.

Do Not Overload

When it comes to caring for your elevator, it is extremely important that you pay attention to the weight limits of your specific unit.  You want to make sure that you are not exceeding the weight limits when transporting heavy items in your elevator. Overloading could lead to damage or permanently breaking your elevator because you went over the maximum weight capacity.

Avoid Industrial Cleaners

It is critical that you avoid using any harsh chemical or cleaners on your elevator, especially on the internal mechanisms.  Industrial cleaners are known to corrode the inner workings of elevators. It is best to consults with the professionals at Preferred Elevator when it comes to cleaning your elevator.
