COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

3 Tips To Choosing A Dumbwaiter For Your Home

Dumbwaiters

Learn how to choose the best dumbwaiter for your home.

It is common for hotels and restaurants to use dumbwaiters to transport items from floor to floor.  However, you do not have to be in the hospitality industry to reap the benefits of a dumbwaiter.  You can have the convenience of a dumbwaiter in the comfort of your own home, so you will never have to carry up heavy items up and down your stairs again.  If you want to install a dumbwaiter into your home, you should take the following things into consideration.

Space

When looking to install a dumbwaiter into your home, you need to take square-footage and space into consideration.  You need to make sure that your home has enough room to hold a dumbwaiter. Make sure that the dumbwaiter can travel up and down through your home..  It is essential that you take the dimensions of the space you want to install the dumbwaiter so that the installation process can smoothly.

Weight

It is important that you know what you will be transporting and the weight of those items that will be in your dumbwaiter.  The last thing you want is for your dumbwaiter to break because you went over the maximum weight. Most residential dumbwaiters can lift items anywhere from 100 to 200 pounds.  So, it is critical that you are aware of the weight of the items you are loading and using your dumbwaiter.

Gates and Doors

When choosing your dumbwaiter, you can decide how you want your dumbwaiter to look.  Do you want a metal gate that protects the cargo that you are transporting? Do you want to have doors that match the design of your home?  You can choose doors and an exterior design of your dumbwaiter so that the structure blends in seamlessly with the rest of your home.
