COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

3 Signs That It Is Time To Invest In A Stairlift

How could your household benefit from a stairlift?

It might be time to invest in a stairlift.

There may come a time for you or a loved one where you need assistance traveling around your home.  It is essential that you know when you need assistance getting up and down the stairs and that you act quickly.  Luckily, there are a few signs that you should be aware of so that you know when it is time to invest in a stairlift before an injury occurs.

Prone To Tripping or Falling

As you age, you are more prone to tripping or falling over surfaces that could lead to a serious injury.  If you or a family member tend to trip or fall, even if it isn’t while using the stairs, you should think about installing a stairlift in your home.  The last thing you want is for you or a loved one to fall down the stairs resulting in a possibly life-threatening injury. Using a stairlift prevents any incidences of tripping or falling on the stairs from occurring.

Struggling Using The Stairs

One of the most obvious signs that it is time to invest in a stairlift is if you or a loved one struggles using the stairs or is avoiding them all together.  Whether you are out of breath before getting to your destination or are in pain while walking, you should think about getting assistance. In some instances, like recovering from surgery, it is better for your body to heal if you take pressure off of it by using a stairlift.  Using a stairlift is an effective way to avoid hurting yourself and accessing your home easier.

Need Help Walking

A major sign is if you need to depend on someone to walk with you up and down the stairs.  Also, if you heavily rely on the handrails and fear you will fall without them, it might be time to invest in a stairlift.  Installing a stairlift in your home will increase your independence, so you will not have to rely on anyone to travel up and down your stairs.
