COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

3 Signs That Your Home Elevator Needs A Repair Service

Be aware of the signs that your elevator needs repairs before it breaks down on you.

Your home elevator is supposed to make your life easier and make transporting in a living space much more efficient.  But like other machines in your home, issues can arise and sometimes repairs are the only solution.  Luckily, the professionals at Preferred Elevator have years of experience repairing home elevators and even offer 24/7 emergency service if an issue arises in the middle of the night.  Don’t live with a home elevator that is constantly giving you issues and working improperly.  Be aware of the signs that your home elevator needs to be repaired by the professionals at Preferred Elevator.

Uneven Stops

When you ride your home elevator from floor to floor, it should stop completely aligned with the opening at your destination.  If your elevator stops below or above a floor, referred to as mid-leveling, then this is a sign of brake wear.  Over time elevator brakes begins to wear out just like the brakes on your car.  When you notice your elevator mid-leveling, you should contact a professional immediately before you damage your elevator beyond repair.

Strange Sounds

One of the most unnerving feelings is riding an elevator and hearing squealing or squeaking noises as your travel from floor to floor.  Your home elevator should operate quietly while in use, and unusual noises are a sign that it is need of repairs.  There is most likely an issue with the cables or pulleys and an elevator professional can tighten and adjust them easily.

Sudden Change In Speeds

Your elevator should have an even and fluid pace when transporting you to a specific location in your home.  If your elevator jerks suddenly when it goes up and down, or it takes forever to come to a complete stop, then it is time to call your local elevator repair service.  When your elevator operates with uneven speeds, it is most likely that your elevator needs to be replaced.  Investing in a new elevator is sometimes a better financial decision than having to put money into repairs.
