COVID-19 Notice

Preferred Elevator would like to assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to do our part in flattening the curve of COVID-19. We have developed a “No Family Contact” process for service, repairs and installations. Our Mechanic, who will be wearing a mask and gloves, will call you when we are at your front door and will discuss the issues or concerns you have with your unit. Our customer can then unlock the door, but there is no need to further greet the Mechanic or be present for the service, repair or installation. Please feel free to move to another part of the home while we are working. Final payment can be left for technician or can be done over the phone with our office.
We greatly appreciate your business during this time.

Sincerely,
Ken Gough

URGENT SAFETY NOTICE

Elevators installed with more than 4 inches of “gap space” between the hoistway doors and the elevator car doors can pose a serious safety risk. Children may become entrapped in the space and could be seriously injured or killed. This risk can be reduced with the proper installation of space guards at each floor.

3 Elevator Etiquette Tips

Learn how to be considerate and respectful to others while taking a public elevator.

As with other social situations like taking any public transit, there are unwritten rules we should follow so we can be courteous to others.  Riding a public elevator should be no different whether it is in your apartment building, your workplace or your hotel.  Some people take an elevator every day and still do not practice proper etiquette during their ride.  There are simple tips to follow while taking an elevator in any building.

Be Respectful While Boarding

There are several things to keep in mind when entering an elevator. Always let people exit before you board, even if you are in a hurry.  If you know you are getting off on a higher floor, then you should move to the back of the elevator.  You should hold the door for other people to get into the car, especially if a person is hurrying towards you and the elevator has room.

Respect Boundaries When Riding to Your Destination

When using any type of public transportation, it is important to be mindful of personal space.  Try not to stand too close to other people even in a crowded elevator. Although you might have an important phone call, it is very disrespectful to talk on the phone in the elevator.

Exit Swiftly

It is important to know which floor you are exiting and be aware when the elevator stops at your destination.  If you are in the back of the elevator when it is time to exit, let the other passengers know so you can politely move past them.
